One Day In Phuket with the Kania’s - Part 1

On our previous post, Kania's Lessons leaned - Taking over Bangkok, Thomas and I shared our experience while visiting and exploring Bangkok, Thailand. Now, we would like to take the chance to share with you about our second stop while exploring Thailand.
Our second stop took us to Phuket Island, where we expend five (5) amazing beautiful sunny and rainy days. We arrived on December 28th 2017, and waited for the New Year’s Eve. Phuket is an impressive island and need several days to be able to see it complete and to enjoy also from the tours the island has to offer.
To share with you our tremendous days around Phuket, we decided to do it a bit different. As, there are many, many things to share about Phuket, we will share them separately, or either this post will be kilo-metric.  At the same time, every post will be combined with pictures and an ending video for more interaction…. Here We GO!!!

DAY 1 – We arrived very late night on December 28th so this day won’t be counted and we will jump to our really first day, 29th December 2017.
1- RENT A MOTORCYCLE. We stayed in Recenta Suites, in Phuket Town. Which, is not so close to the see front or beach areas, therefore, we had to rent a Motorcycle. Many hotels provide their guests rental services; however, we did not rent previous to our arrival. Once there, they couldn’t offer us a motorbike as they were over.
Thomas and I, as you might already know, are very adventurous, but I think sometimes Thomas takes it to another level. In Phuket town there is a big problem if you are not located right in the center like us. You need to walk a LOT until the center to find a motorbike place as it only seems to be 2 places in Phuket town for this. Thomas and I where five (5) Kilometers away from this place, so after we had our amazing breakfast we walked all the way there. I was very mad at Thomas because I, wanted us to rent a bike on the hotel to bike there, but Thomas was not into this. To add to this, the day was so HOT that we ended under sweat like wet chickens.
GAS IS SO CHEAP! That’s true, we rent our bike for 300 THB a day, and for 4 days and 3 night we had our bike. Where we rent out motorbike, they gave it without gasoline, as they really don’t care about full tanks. We fill twice the motorbike tank. First, we payed 130 THB and the second time was maybe the day after, as Thomas wanted to re-fill the part we had already emptied. We expended in total about 220 THB on gasoline for that amount of time and made more than 300 Kilometers with it.

2- CAREFUL WITH THE MONKEYS AT MONKEY HILL.
On our motorbiking we decided to start by exploring some of the important attractions of Phuket Town area first, and later to go for the sunset around all the south coast tour of the island.
Monkey Hill was our first stop of the day. It was an amazing experience for us that we won’t be able to forget. There are two reasons. The first one goes related to me: I am a crazy lover of animals and the more I see, the more I want. I always loved monkeys, in especial the baby ones, so you can imagine my childish face, my big surprising smiles and a tiny happy scream of “awwww so cuteeeeee, I want to take it homeee” – right away, everybody around was laughing about me.

The second reason is because of Thomas, by the seconds we arrived, he created a fight between monkeys, as he forgot they can be a bit aggressive – or maybe too much – when comes to anything related to food or water. We had a bottle of water on our Motorcycle, and Thomas the genius started to share it with a baby monkey who was with his mom. Other monkey mommy, approach this baby who was drinking and bite him, therefore the mama monkey of this one drinking fight against her, she lost the fight, her baby ran away next to her, and the other one stole our bottle of water from Thomas hand, throwing all the water to the motorcycle and the floor.

That was a real not so smart monkey movement she made, wasting the water available not only for the other monkey but even to her own baby, who ended liking the wheels of our motor. The nice part of all these, was the amazing photo-shoots we made of the monkey that day and the sweetness baby face ones. Because to be honest once they grow these ones are very ugly and not charming anymore, at least from our eyes.

3- UN-ENDING COAST'S VIEWPOINTS. When it comes to views, Phuket Town is full of amazing and surprising high viewpoint to the ocean, where to take the most beautiful shots of sunsets and sunrises.

After finishing with the monkeys, we headed all the way to the south to explore the entire coast slowly and to enjoy taking some shots stopping through the coast we past around Rawai Beach, Promthep Cape viewpoint, Yanui beach, Windmill Viewpoint, Kata viewpoint, Karon Beach and bit more. To not go into much let me just share some of this amazing shots we did that day.

4– PATONG BEACH NIGHTS GO CRAZY! – as it sounds, is how it is at nights. Before we ending our coast view tour and so, we head back to our hotel to relax a bit, had a bath as we ended so sweat and smelly that afternoon. Once we dressed, we took our motorcycle and ride all the way from Phuket Town to Patong Beach.
The area has its own peculiarity: Drinking, Party and dancing until the sun comes out.  There are two main streets that are impossible to miss when you are there. The Thanon Ratuthiht Songroipi Rd is the inside town street parallel to the beach, but not the one right in front it, which is the Thawewong Rd. The Thanon Ratuthit is a long street full of bars, restaurants, light and horrible traffic at nights.

The other main one, called Thanon Bangla is the walk-able street full of more bars, open to the street to call attention and where ladies or lady boys are dancing on the top of the bars holding their poles.
5- LADY BOYS ARE NORMAL ALL AROUND THAILAND. If you are not an open-minded person or neither respectful, I will suggest you to PLEASE, stay away from Thailand. Their people here are so proud of their country, their way of living, as so their culture. Ladyboys in Thailand is totally acceptable and normal, so if you come here, you must accept who they are.

This was something I loved about Thailand, no matter what people say, they do not care and are so open to it and to be honest we never felt uncomfortable about it or had no bad experience related to it. This area of Phuket at night is so unique and full of lady boys. Sometimes it can be very easy to notice them, but some other times you will find yourself confuse on how to differentiate who is or who is not a lady-boy.
6- DID SOMEONE APPROACHED YOU WHILE WALKING AT PATONG BEACH STREET AT NIGHT?! For those ones who have been there, know what I am talking about, but for those who have never been in Phuket, I will explain what happens when someone approaches to speak with you on this walk-able street.

That night, was an epic night and so we enjoyed it with the thousand-different music’s sounding very load from the thousand bars located next to the other. We also enjoyed an electro DJ party happening at the beach right behind the big sign of Patong Beach. We danced, we had some drinks, and so we saw many things happening.

If someone approaches you with a sign while you are walking around this crazy ambiance street, you need to know that they will come just to offer you a “better” option private show, which at the end Is not that is private. Just that they are dark inside clubs, which are hidden inside building behind these outside bars direct on the street where the people are partying and observing the ladies dancing on the top of the bars.
Thomas and I, passed through this experience, a man came and offer us to show us a better place to party, where you don’t need to pay the dancers. As we were curious we went with the man, and to be honest I was scared as he took me to a darker and narrow hall, where at the end was a curtain and behind these ones, is the hidden bar. When we enter in this darker space, is a big and not so high stage with naked ladies dancing and making “tricks with their genitals”. We saw ladies putting straws inside their vagina and from there a tiny something flows out to explode a balloon which was hanging high outside on the stage. CRAZZYYYY!!!! – However, the girls in this bar where not even cute, so people mostly enter to see the show… for instance, Thomas an I left, as they lied to you by saying you don’t need to pay just buy drinks. When you see the drinks menu prices are stupidly exaggerated. The cheapest beer costed 1000 THB, while at the outside bars where between 80-90 THB for one beer. Thomas and I said to ourselves with a look “OK” – nothing worth here to pay that much for a beer. When we said the waitress, we were not ordering yet something, she just told us to head out of the bar in no nice way! – and, we left!!!
7- FOOD IS JUST SPECTACULAR! SPECIALLY AT NIGHT MARKETS.

Night market for me have totally more to offer, maybe is because of the night vibes, and as people tent to be on a better mood as night are not as hot as the days.

You can't miss them, night markets is something i totally love, plus it bring lot of nice light decoration always and I love light and colors. Therefore, I always suggest people to go and have try as many of them as you can.

Thailand foods markets have lot things to offer. Always when back to hotel - what we end calling home stay while we travel - we are glad we shared together amazing experiences.

8- BE AWARE, THE SOUTHERN YOU GO THE LESS ENGLISH. That’s true, Thailand people might some speak English, but for our impression of a Tourist Island like Phuket where almost no one speaks English was like too much.
Like in the case of our hotel, Recenta suites, their staff, he hotel itself is incredibly amazing, their facilities, their ROOMS are AMAZING!!! – However, they speak no English, so communication passes to hand sings combined with keywords, hoping to be understood on the first minute! – Therefore, be ready because this can happen to you too.

With all respect to our hotel, we loved the service, and so we would choose them again!
Now let’s make a stop here and leave more for our Part 2 post of Phuket. I will leave you down here with the video where you can see how amazing and beautiful was our first day experience.
